photography and me

I’ve decided to take up photography again after a very long hiatus. the road to learning things such as composition, colour, light and composition is going to be as daunting as they were when I picked it up many many years ago. I’ll be displaying some of the pictures that I like, and they can be found in posts blogged within the “Photography” tag.

for the curious, this is the set up that I’m currently running

• Canon 40D with battery grip
• Canon EF-L 24-70 f/2.8 USM *my new workhorse lens*
• Tokina ATX Pro 20-35mm f/2.8 *my workhorse wide angle*
• Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 *kit lens from my old 30D. about six to eight years old now!*
• Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 *came free with the 40D*
• Canon EFS 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
• Canon Speedlite 580 EX MkII
• Canon Speedlite 420 EX
• Manfrotto 055CLB tripod with Manfrotto 029 head
• Sekonic Flashmate L-308 Lightmeter

I am however, still looking to expand a bit of my lens collection, and possibly sell one or two of them away. what I am desiring for massively right now would be

• Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
• Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM
• Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM

the last two lenses are really for me if I want to do portrait photography, which I am still not too sure of right now *due to lack of experience, really* however, it is something that I am exploring into.

my gallery can be viewed at my Flickr site. do pardon the fact that it has images from many other sources *such as my point and shoot* as this is my multi-purpose gallery. if I do become more professional, I may consider setting up a proper gallery. but for now, nah. too lazy! also, you may notice repeats of the same photo within galleries. this is because I do not do much post processing for all my photos *apart from resizing for storage convenience*, and as such try to capture a few shots in the hope that I get the best shot possible whilst I was shooting. I apologise if it chews up your bandwidth as a result. (=
