V for Vendetta

31 03 2006

"remember remember, the 5th of November, the gunpowder and treason plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgotten."
my goodness. it's a bloody good movie. worth watching it a second time.

media students will find the movie particularly interesting, seeing how it is a show about political control of information output and the monopoly of media broadcasting. psychology students will find it interesting in how people obey authority without questioning *think Milgram experiment*.

I'm definitely going to get the DVD for this show when it's out. and bring on the graphic novel!

update as of 3rd April 2006

according to Jaclyn's friend, whom I have no idea in terms of gender or name or person, quote unquote "the movie is gory"

if you have been listening to either one of them, please do not believe them. yes, there are images of blood and people getting pistol whipped. but it is not gory. it is probably as gory as Munich, or maybe less gory than that. I can't think of any recent films that can be used as a comparisson.

but oh well. do watch it! and yes, that includes you, Jaclyn Wong Lai Peng. do not download it. I'll frown upon you if you do that.

Commonwealth Games 2006 part 2

25 03 2006

I was lucky enough to be part of the games for atheletics. the tickets we got were very good, considering the fact that we were kinda near the finish line. Mabelle looked a bit “sian”, whilst I was just soaking in the experience of it all. afterall, it has been some time since I ran, let alone be infrontĀ  of such a capacity crowd *last time was. urhm. footy. and prior to that, Tiger Cup in Singapore. heh*

Commonwealth Games 2006

24 03 2006

somehow, I can’t wait to see the games later. I probably will barrack for Australia, seeing how Singapore doesn’t have an atheletic contingent taking part in today’s games schedule.

then again, the Jamaicans and the Kenyans will probably win. unless Jana Pittman is running for Australia. heh.

*twiddles thumbs*

life’s little jokes

20 03 2006

a conversation with a mate of mine. a bloke, to be precise. for obvious reasons, I will not name any names so as to protect his identity. but for “easier typing”, let’s just use the pseudonym Mark. no honestly, its not who you think it is.

I just hope that them folk up in northern Queensland have the mental strength and fortitude to go through what is being lashed out on them.
